A South American influencer has caused a stir by claiming Europeans stink.
Monique Escapeti’s video has been watched more than a million times in two days.
The 29-year-old Brazilian shared her thoughts in a selfie video taken in the Copenhagen Metro.
She claimed: “One remarkable thing about Europe, no matter where you go, is the body odour.

“The worst part is, it’s winter, everyone’s wearing coats, and even with everyone bundled up, there’s this absurd stench.
“When we travel to Europe in the summer, it’s even worse. It’s inhumane. People don’t shower.”
Monique, from Rio de Janeiro, boasts 107,000 followers on Instagram and 69,300 on TikTok, as reported on What’s The Jam.
She’s been keeping them entertained with moments from her travels across Europe with her boyfriend.

She went on: “The funny thing is, we see people with really well-tended skin, expensive products, fabulous hair, but they still stink.
“It’s this acidic stench.
“And they have access to the best perfumes, the best products, the best of everything, and yet they still can’t manage to maintain hygiene, take a shower, and wash their armpits.

“I can only imagine, if we can smell the body odour with someone wearing a coat, imagine what it’s like underneath.”
Not everyone in the comments agreed with her dim view of Europeans and some suggested she should look closer to home.
Carlos wrote: “Anyone who talks about bad smells on public transport in Europe has never taken a crowded bus or subway during rush hour in Brazil.”
Adriano remarked: “In Brazil, the smell on public transport is often from some bad perfume.”
Keith said: “Am I the only one who didn’t notice the smell in the summer? People exaggerate.”
And Monica commented: “Europe is huge, frien.
“Not every European smells bad.”
After arriving in Barcelona on the next leg of her travels, Monique shared another video addressing her remarks.
She doubled down on her original observation.
The influencer said: “It’s so weird that this video went viral, I didn’t expect it.
“What’s even weirder is seeing so many Brazilians saying that I’ve never used public transport.
“Guys, I’ve taken public transport my whole life, and people didn’t smell like this.”
She added: “In Brazil, even the most humble people take the metro smelling fresh, and it’s normal to have a bit of sweat on the way back from work, but it’s not like it is here.”
