Glamour model – who is 3ft 8in and mistaken for being boyfriend’s daughter – moves to remote island with just 84,000 residents because she’s tired of being ‘laughed at’

A 3ft 8in tall glamour model is “fleeing” the UK to move to a tiny remote island because she is fed up of being trolled.

Caitlin Hellyer frequently hits the headlines for sharing what it’s like to live with dwarfism.

For one, the 23-year-old is constantly mistaken for being her boyfriend’s daughter.

Her partner, Guy, is 10 years older and stands at 5ft 8in.

Due to the “abuse” the model receives on a daily basis, she says the pair are leaving Britain to live in a small community with just 84,000 residents.

“I don’t feel safe in the UK anymore,” the glamour model, from Gloucestershire, told What’s The Jam.

“As a dwarf woman, I find I am harassed, verbally assaulted and have pictures taken of me, while I partake in my day-to-day life.

“Not much is done when I report incidents.

“So now I’m too scared to go out alone.

“If I stood on the high street for five minutes, I would be called harsh names or laughed at.

“It causes stress and I’m constantly preemptively reacting to the smallest things on outings.

“I will hide behind my boyfriend if someone pulls their phone out, or I hear a camera click.

“I’ve started to wonder: ‘Why me?’ as I wouldn’t take a photo or harass somebody just going about their day.”

Caitlin and Guy met three years ago and have been on multiple trips abroad together.

Last year, he took her to visit the Isle of Man, a self-governing island between Great Britain and Ireland.

And she instantly fell in love.

She said: “When I visited there, I was able to stand alone and feel very safe.

“The people were so welcoming of me.

“I didn’t get judged, or laughed at once – it was quite surreal.

“We’re currently trying to sell our house so we can go as soon as possible.

“We’ve seen a few properties we love, and right now, we’re looking at buying a second home if selling ours takes too long.

“I just can’t wait anymore – it’s no longer a want, it’s a need, for my own safety.”

Caitlin suffers from achondroplasia dwarfism, a bone growth disorder caused by a genetic mutation in the arms and legs.

While she often doesn’t care about what anybody else has to say, she’s “sick and tired of living in fear” each day.

She added: “I feel sad, as the UK is where I grew up.

“It’s supposed to be safe and home.

“I’m moving even further away from my family – around 10 hours – but I’ll be able to go outside, fulfil my goals and live life safely.

“I can either stay in the UK, be miserable and complain about it; or I can do something positive.

“My family and friends are very understanding of this decision and we’re only a flight away from each other.

“It will make Guy and I’s relationship stronger, as I will able to hold my own and relax when we’re in public, rather than having to go home early.

“I’m looking forward to being free, to be able to walk down a street without constantly looking over my shoulder.
