Ryanair passengers are rushing to try a little-known booking trick that could help them avoid the dreaded middle seat without paying extra.

The hack was shared across social media by money-saving expert Jordon Cox, also known as The Coupon King.

In the two-minute technique, Cox claims he can improve travellers’ chances of being allocated an aisle or window seat for free, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Jordon said: “Never sit in the middle seat again with this easy trick.

“There is a way to avoid those awful middle seats on Ryanair without paying for it.”

He recommends trying the trick on the day of travel, around five to six hours before the flight.

Passengers must first open the seat-selection map and identify all the available places they would not want to be allocated, such as middle seats or those near the toilets.

Jordon then advises opening a separate browser tab and beginning a new booking for the same flight.

He said: “First of all, have a look at the seat selection and find all the seats you don’t want to sit in.

“Then open a separate tab and create a new booking on the flight that you’re on.

Passenger’s are then advised to enter a ‘bogus’ name into all the remaining middle seats.

“These seats are then frozen for a few minutes while they’re in someone else’s basket,” he added.

The unwanted seats should consequently become temporarily unavailable while they remain in the unfinished booking.

Passengers can then return to their real booking and choose Ryanair’s random seat-allocation option.

Jordon said: “So head back to your actual booking, select random seat selection and boom!

“You’ve avoided the middle seat for free.”

He said travellers may need to add more than 10 fictitious passengers if numerous unwanted seats remain available.

Jordon added in the caption: “Hopefully the only ones left are the aisle and the window.”

The deals expert claimed the trick could save passengers £20 per seat.

Ryanair is known for offering low-cost fares, with some flights to European destinations available for less than €20.

However, the final cost can increase when passengers add services including baggage, airport check-in or seat selection.

Choosing a specific seat can reportedly cost between €4.50 and €36.50 depending on its position and whether it offers additional legroom.

Social media users praised Jordon’s cheeky technique.

One person commented: “Never thought of that idea. I love it.”
