A mum-of-six has been slammed for reserving nine poolside sunbeds before heading out for breakfast.

Stephanie Curtis is on a 10-day holiday with her family in Caleta De Fuste, Fuerteventura.

The mum-of-six cheekily shared a video of herself nabbing the spots to social media where it has racked up more than 112,000 views.

In the footage, Stephanie, 29, who is seen laying down towels, says: “First things first, we have to claim our sun beds at the pool area.”

The family members then leave for breakfast at 8 am and come back around two hours later to make the most of the loungers until 5 pm.

Stephanie – away with eight relatives – was slammed by other Brits heading abroad for the summer.

But she argued she needs the space by the child’s pool to keep an eye on a younger member of the family.

“From a very young age, I can remember my grandparents had always got up early to reserve sunbeds,” Stephanie, of Newport, south Wales, told What’s The Jam.

“So I have just followed structure from them.”

“On the day I filmed the video, I got up about half seven, and it was approximately between eight and 8:30 am when we left the hotel room.

“We reserved our sun beds, which were situated near the outside of our apartment.

“After this, we walked 10 to 15 minutes for breakfast in the town.

“Then we went for a look in the nearby shop and made our way back to the apartment.

“We got back at about 10 am.

“When we got back, the towels were still in the same place we had left them, and we had a day in the pool together until we came back to the apartment to get ready and go out for our evening meal.”

Holidaymakers were left furious after seeing Stephanie lay towels on the loungers and walk away at the hotel in the Canary Islands.

She said: “We reserved a sun bed as the complex can get really busy, and we came as a big family.

“There is a separate baby swimming pool, and for us to supervise proactively, we needed to be in this area.

“The comments on the video made me feel appalled at how low people can take things, too.

“I didn’t think the video would go viral.

“After all, I only made content on what a day in my life on holiday was.

“I didn’t see a problem with reserving a bed as all I was doing was what everyone has done, and what I have always known to do on holiday.

“The comments left on the video have not changed my opinion on this as I believe I did right by my family.”

Fellow Brits shared their views.

One fumed: “These are the people you all hate on holiday.”

Simon said: “You don’t have to claim the sun beds.”

Another person said: “Towels would be turfed in the pool.”

Someone else added: “Those towels would be ripped off the sun beds and straight into the pool.”

Gaynor said: “Hotels should take towels off sunbeds when people do this, not that I would sit on one of those beds”

Someone else said: “Claiming a sun bed and then going out is wrong.

“Getting a drink at the bar or using the toilet is fine, but going out is not.”

Dave added: “Sooner the claiming of sunbeds is stopped, the better.”
