A woman has revealed her “debilitating” ordeal with a rare disease that left her without control over her body – but says that love held the cure she was looking for.

When Jas Kaur fell over while in her line of work as a special constable without any explanation, she became concerned that something was wrong.

The 38-year-old, from Oldbury, West Midlands, then decided to seek out medical advice when she began having frequent spells of “losing control” over her body.

She was diagnosed with relapse-remitting multiple sclerosis (MS), a condition that affects the central nervous system, which turned her life upside down.

As the condition progressed, with her mobility affected, Jas was forced to leave her career and in a bid to seek comfort, joined an online dating website – where she met Craig, 34, who has saved her life.

“I was at a loss with treatment, as my condition was continuing to worsen and I was struggling to walk or do most things by myself,” Jas told What’s The Jam.

“It’s so unpredictable and I lived, and still live, each day not knowing if I’m going to be able to cope the next.

“When I met Craig, I was transparent about my health and we shared the grief of losing a parent to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

“Because of this, we had a compassionate connection right away.

“When things got worse, he suggested looking into stem cell treatment and it was like the light at the end of a very dark tunnel.”

Jas, who initially struggled to come to terms with her new reality and had to learn how to walk again after being diagnosed in 2021, found comfort in Craig during times of uncertainty.

While he helps her in daily life, the pair are now on a mission to raise funds for the potentially life-changing treatment, with £7,265 raised out of £25,000 on GoFundMe: For now, she relies on a stick or frame for mobility – but hopes that this treatment will halt the progression of her disease.

She added: “I want to move forward with Craig, but I can’t like this.

“If I could get this transplant in Mexico, then I’ll be able to get my old life back.

“I don’t want Craig to have a future without me, but I’m worried that without this, it won’t be as bright as it could be.

“I’m glad I’ve found my soulmate at a time when I was left feeling so lost.

“He’s been such a pillar of unwavering support and together, I won’t let MS beat me.”
