A professional baker was left outraged when a bride allegedly ordered a wedding cake worth hundreds of pounds – but was only willing to contribute a measly £40.
The cake maker had been excited to receive an enquiry, and spoke on the phone to the bride-to-be to “hammer out the details”.
She reportedly requested an elaborate three-tier cake on a sparkly acrylic stand, decorated with fresh flowers.

The desired cake would have a chocolate base tier, carrot middle tier, and strawberry top tier – with a miniature Australian Shepherd dog toy or fondant creation to be propped on top.
But when it came to discussing pricing for the showstopper, things turned sour, as reported by What’s The Jam.
The baker, who didn’t share their name, said: “She asked me how much I would charge for a cake like this.
“She informs me she’s local and has heard really good things and has seen my ads on Instagram and they want this to be a blow-out celebration.
“I told her that I would have to do some math and pricing, but I think she could anticipate a minimum of $850-$900 (£660-£698) – which I know was low-balling, but I needed some time to do some sourcing and math.

“She told me she wanted it for 50.”
The baker initially tried to play it off, joking “that’s a lot of cake for 50 people” – and was horrified when the customer confirmed her fears: she wanted to pay $50 (£38).
Continuing to give her a chance, they asked if she meant $50 for ingredients alone, to which they claim the bride specified: “No. For the cake. The whole cake.”

The stunned cake maker said this wouldn’t even be enough money to purchase the flowers for a cake of such a size.
The bride reportedly said: “Well, that’s our budget, take it or leave it!”
Things allegedly turned even more unpleasant, with the bride asking if the baker is new to the role – to which they replied: “No, you’re just delusional.”
To threats of taking her business elsewhere, the baker added: “Good luck, $50 won’t buy you three plain cakes at Walmart.”
The exchange was shared on social media, where the bride was branded a “cheapskate”.
One person commented: “$50?! Has she ever been to the grocery store? She could get one carrot cake and one vanilla cake at my local Kroger’s in-house bakery for that much.”
“Someone is marrying this lovely lady,” said another viewer.
Someone else added: “It was a bridezilla.”
“I will say, that sounds like a great cake. Too bad she’s got not-even-a-beer budget to go with her champagne tastes,” joked another user.
Someone else commented: “I would of agreed to it and canceled on her the week off…Returning her 50 bucks.”
