Hollywood star Stanley Tucci has sparked uproar online after shocking fans with his take on a “simple” Italian tomato sauce.
The Devil Wears Prada actor, 63, is well-known for his love of Italian cuisine and often shows off his cooking skills online.
He even fronted the hit CNN series Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, which bagged him two Emmy Awards.

But his latest kitchen video has sent social media into meltdown, as reported by What’s The Jam.
In the clip, Tucci begins by showing off some overripe tomatoes he planned to turn into sauce.
But fans were horrified when he started cutting them up, dunking them in water, and washing away the seeds.
He gently softened garlic and onion in olive oil before adding the chopped tomatoes.
And then things took a dramatic turn.

Tucci reached for two tins of canned tomatoes and poured them straight into the pan, leaving his followers stunned.
One person said: “The seeds are surrounded in a flavorful, umami-packed ‘locular gel’ which is crucial to great flavour.
“To wash it away is a sin!!

“Ok, maybe not a sin, but it’s kind of a shame.”
Another wrote: “All that effort on the tomatoes.
“Then… two cans of canned tomatoes.
“That threw me for a loop!”
A third added: “Uh, as an Italian – a few booboo’s from the get-go…”
Someone else said: “Sooo, you put tomato sauce in cans in your tomato sauce??”
Others were simply baffled, writing: “Really!!! Are you that bored???! Why even cook?
“Surely all the best bits of the tomato are squeezed into the water??
“Why? Why? WHY? Save the juice, not the skin! And who wants canned tomatoes! And why the onion?”
And one unimpressed fan summed it up: “If you’re gonna add canned tomato sauce, then why bother cooking at all.. lol.”
Despite the backlash, Tucci’s loyal followers jumped to his defence – insisting he’s still the sauce boss.
