Robert Irwin was performing a show in the alligator enclosure of his family zoo in Beerwah, Queensland, when an Ibis flew and landed, causing worry among the crowd watching.

The video, filmed by Zara Fitzpatrick, shows Irwin, 22, standing near the enclosure as the bird approaches the edge of the pool.

Robert can be heard saying: “Oh no, oh no, this is not looking good.”

Whilst Robert is commentating, another Ibis lands next to the first, upping the danger of the situation.

Robert says to the birds as they continue to approach the gator: “Guys, the bird show is over.

“Our proud Olympic mascot, oh mate, oh mate, oh and Murray (the alligator) is interested too.”

The Ibis approaches even closer to the pool, and Irwin begins pleading to Murray not to eat the unsuspecting bird.

He says: “OK, I think it’s time for you guys to leave, lets get him out of there, I think it’s obvious Murray is keen for a little bit extra to eat, lets not let him get an Ibis today.”

Thankfully, the situation was peacefully resolved and no Ibises were eaten.

Zara, 23, filmed the video earlier this week (13 January).

“It was Robert Irwin’s first week back after winning Dancing with the Stars,” she told What’s The Jam.

“Because of this, I think he pulled out all the stops during the show.

“We were all on the edge of our seats with the same reaction as Robert ‘oh no oh goodness no’.

“After the birds took off there was a feeling relief in the crowd.”

Zara’s video was viewed 5.6 million times, with 724,800 likes and 900 comments.

One person said: “Bin chickens (a local name for Ibises) are so dumb lol.”
