Julia Bradbury has been slammed for getting a new puppy from a breeder and not opting for rescue pooch ahead of Christmas.
The TV presenter angered fans as so many unwanted dogs need new homes especially over the festive season.
The 54-year-old – famed for hosting BBC shows like Watchdog and Countryfile – gushed as she held up the little pup.

She said: “Big news
“We’re getting a puppy.
“It’s taken us two years to decide and confirm it’s right for us as a family since we lost our little family pooch Lottie.
“Our new little family member, still to be confirmed, will be a friend and therapy dog for the kids, and I’m sure will bring so much joy into our lives.
“Watch this space to see which pup we choose and how we get on.

“I’m preparing for some sleepless nights and any tips and help very welcome thank you!
“The breed we’ve decided on is a Show Cocker Spaniel.
“A bit smaller than a working cocker, doesn’t require quite as much walking, although I am all over that.

“And less shedding, alongside being very loving and family friendly.
“Can’t wait to introduce you, when we’ve met too.
“I really recommend this breeder at this place.”
But, cautious of the reaction, she added: “I would like to add that this is not a ‘dog for Christmas’.
“It happens to be the right timing for us as a family for other reasons.
“We did consider all options very carefully for two years, including rescues.
“We should all take the decision to get a dog very seriously, thinking about our lifestyles, family makeup and how a dog can fit into that.”
But dog lovers were not impressed, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Helen said: “Shame you couldn’t have rescued.”
Another claimed: “Always a rescue never a pedigree.
“You’re helping some very bad breeding behaviour by advertising it.
“Expected a bit more thought going into this.”
Jo said: “Rescue a dog, I’m so disappointed.”
Carol said: “So disappointed promoting a breeder when there are thousands of rescues just desperate to have a loving home.”
Another said: “I’m disappointed, Julia, especially at this time of year.
“When loads of puppies are bought as Christmas presents.
“End up in rescue centres.”
