A woman has shared her shocking ordeal after going into hospital with a suspected infection and coming out pregnant.
When Ceri Wilson started to experience frequent bouts of fatigue, coupled with migraines, a sore back and needing the toilet often, she assumed a kidney infection had taken hold.
The 30-year-old, from West Dunbartonshire, had been told since the age of 16 that due to having polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), it’s highly unlikely she would be able to have children naturally.

But as her condition worsened, she rushed to hospital, where a urine test confirmed that she was, in fact, pregnant.
Now, the mum is sharing her shocking ordeal after carrying a baby without a clue.
“I was completely gobsmacked when they told me, as I couldn’t believe it,” the orthopaedics department waiting list manager told What’s The Jam.
“I hadn’t had a period in over three years, so I thought it was near impossible for me to be pregnant.
“My stomach was still flat and I still weighed the same – though my clothes had been getting tighter in recent weeks.

“But I definitely didn’t have a bump.”
Ceri, who was diagnosed with her aforementioned condition after doctors found cysts on her ovaries following a month long period, was left “crushed” when her dreams of becoming a mum seemed like they would never happen.
She met her partner, Jack, two years ago and told him immediately that kids weren’t on the cards.

Still, the 30-year-old continued to take the pill just to be on the safe side and claims she never missed one.
After relishing in the news, the pair went to a scan, where it was confirmed that she was already five months along.
Ceri said: “I saw a fully formed face on the screen staring back at me and assumed it was from the person before me.
“When they said I was five months along, my mouth fell open in shock.
“In just 48 hours, I went from believing I’d never have kids to expecting – and a little girl, too.”
In October 2023, Millie was born into the world completely healthy despite the unusual pregnancy.
Now, she’s sharing her unlikely story to warn others to get any symptoms checked out – just in case it’s a surprise arrival.
She added: “Millie is the centre of our world and she’s proof that miracles really can happen.
“It may have been a shock arrival, but it was definitely meant to be.
“I’m on alert now for any other symptoms just in case it’s another out-of-the-blue pregnancy – but I don’t seem to be expecting again just yet.”
