A shopper was left baffled after a metal post in a supermarket car park started violently vibrating – despite there being no wind.
Liah Shelton spotted the bizarre sight at Ortongate Shopping Centre in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
Video footage shows the mystery pole wobbling rapidly while nearby posts remain completely still, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Liah said: “It was weird.
“There was no wind, and none of the other poles was doing it.
“I think it’s been doing it for a few years and nobody seems to know why.”
The strange shaking could have several possible explanations.

A loose or damaged foundation could allow a post to move more freely, while ground vibrations from traffic, construction or machinery could also be transferred through the ground.

Another possibility is vortex shedding, where moving air creates alternating pressure around a post and causes it to oscillate.
Taller, thinner or lightweight poles can also be more prone to sustained movement because they have less natural damping.
But with Liah insisting there was no wind at the time – and neighbouring posts staying still – the mystery car park shaker continues to leave shoppers scratching their heads.
