A savvy British dad has saved more than £60 on his food shop with a clever supermarket hack.

Elliot Jeory has plenty of experience navigating deals.

The dad-of-two, from Preston, Lancashire, has formerly shared how to make a two-course meal for £1 from Waitrose.

Recently, a kitchen restock was in order – and Sainsbury’s delivered a few surprise finds for the 39-year-old.

In his clip, which has racked up over 297,900 views and hundreds of likes, he reveals he found a “magic trick” on chocolate.

“See these Aero chocolate mint bars, down from £5 to £2.50,” Elliot said in a video shared with What’s The Jam.

“Seems like a good deal doesn’t it?

“Well check this out – scan it and see how much it costs.”

He then scans the item with a self scanner and a single bar comes out at 50p.

It would have cost the savvy shopper £30 to buy 12, but instead he only paid £6.

Elliot goes on to also point out some KitKats for £2.20 – but scans them, and they come out at 22p..

He purchases 20 – which would have cost him £44, but the secret markdown made his bill only £4.40.

He said: “That’s right, I’m going to get a box of them as well.

“And the funny thing is I don’t even eat chocolate – I’ll be giving most of this away, but it is worth it.”

He proudly captioned the post: “Chocolate bargains.”

Together, these two sweet chocolate price cuts saved Elliot a total of £63.60.

Giorgia said: “Wait. Sainsbury’s doing secret sales. Holy s**t that’s makes a change!”

Richard joked: “Does that scanner work on council tax?”

Dom added: “That’s next year xmas sorted.”

Someone else joked: “Guys go to your local Sainsbury’s, not mine, I’ve taken it all.”

Yas said: “Staff conveniently forgot to mark these down eh.”

Sharron added: “Absolute bargains.”

Elliot also shared another video to TikTok, gathering 61,400 views, which revealed even more Sainsbury’s price-drop tricks.

He says that with a scanner, you can get camembert, Baileys pouring cream and fig brandy cream for 1p.

On top of that, he highlights custard creams for 7p, sweet mix for 12p, chocolate oranges for 15p and gluten free chocolate baubles for 49p.

Elliot said: “Most of them have not updated the prices yet.

“You can re-gift these for Easter.

“Head down to your local Sainsbury’s, use a scanner and then scan the item because a lot of them have not been updated.

“The prices are updating on a daily basis while stocks last.”

Amazed by the hush-hush deals, Joanne said: “One pence for camembert is crazy! Cheese not cake.”

Antalya added: “Stop it.”

It seems Elliot’s antics have caught on, as Sylwia said: “I got 24 salted caramel profiteroles this morning for 2p!”

Someone else added: “I got 1p for some cheese today.”
