Shakira’s dressing room was flooded by torrential rain moments before she was due to take to the stage for a sell-out concert.

Her show was nearly a washout, but the pop star insisted it must go on.

The pop star – known for her 2010 hit Waka Waka – took to the stage nearly three hours late due to technical issues caused by the rainstorm.

But her army of fans happily stood waiting in the pouring rain for their idol to appear on stage.

The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker was performing two shows at the Corregidora Stadium in Querétaro, Mexico, on 2 and 3 September as part of her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ world tour.

Minutes before her concert on Wednesday, Shakira shared a clip of her flooded dressing room for her 93m Instagram fans, as reported by What’s The Jam.

She wrote: “Look at my dressing room before last night’s concert.”

The footage showed plastic bags covering every inch of the room as water poured from the ceiling.

The singer’s technical team had to make emergency adjustments to ensure the event’s safety.

Despite coming on stage several hours late, the crowd gave Shakira a standing ovation for not cancelling the performance.

Her tour is continuing to break records in Mexico, where she has already sold over one million tickets.

On 20 May, Shakira fell over on stage while performing at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

She joked afterwards: “No one is safe from falls!”
