A charity shop is selling a Harry Potter book for £2,000 – but the pages are tattered.

It is a first edition of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – the fourth book in the series.

The cover features an illustration of Harry Potter on his broomstick flying from a fire-breathing dragon.

The book was originally published by Bloomsbury in 2000.

But 23 years on, the novel comes with a hefty price tag.

It is being sold by Oxfam Bookshop in Cotham Hill, Bristol for £2,000.

The hardback has been signed by author, JK Rowling.

However, the book has significant signs of damage on the top and bottom page corners and dust covers.

The description reads: “A first edition of the fourth Harry Potter book, signed by JK Rowling.

”Some minor wear to the top and bottom of the dust jacket, short tear to back of dust jacket.

”Similarly, slight bowing at top and bottom edges of the book itself.

”Otherwise in very good condition with the author’s signature on the dedication page.”

Books in Oxfam can be sold for pennies but they also have a collection of rare first edition prints which are worth thousands.

Last year, a battered old Harry Potter book bought for 50p from a charity shop sold for £15,500 at Hanson’s Auctioneers in Staffordshire.
