Balenciaga has been slammed for selling tatty-looking Puma trainers for ten times as much.

The trendy fashion house has collaborated with the sportswear giant.

It is selling its own take on the Speedcat sneakers for £520.

They have a “distressed” look with part of the Puma markings peeled off.

They also have a few fake, grubby bits on them.

The trainers have the Puma logo on them but Balenciaga on the tongue and sides.

They come in a range of colours including yellow.

But almost identical ones are being sold by Puma for just £55.

They are £90 normally but now have 39% off.

One angry shopper – called Chris – fumed: “You could have the Puma Speedcats for £55.

“Or the exact same shoe but ruined for 10 times the price.

The Balenciaga website reads: “Speedcat Suede Balenciaga in yellow and black distressed suede cow skin.
“Balenciaga logo and Puma cat debossed and printed on the tongue and external side

“Embroidered Puma cat on the front, written size on the back of the heel.

“In collaboration with Puma, back pull-on tab with reflective detail.

“Due to the nature of the product, individual differences may occur.”

The Puma website says: “The Puma Speedcat has been an icon of racing culture and street style for decades.

“The world first knew it as an ultra-slim driving shoe designed to shave milliseconds off lap times.

“Then it became a sleek streetwear staple seen on the streets of global fashion capitals.

“Its story is constantly evolving, as it’s adopted by the trendsetters and pace-setters of every generation. Rewrite the classics with Speedcat.”

Last month, Balenciaga was mocked for selling high heel trainers for £820.

Two years ago, it started selling a skirt that looked like a towel wrapped around the wearer for £695.

Yet it faced a backlash in 2022, for using kids and bondage bears in an ad campaign.
