TikTok users have been left stunned after a father-to-be was seen arriving to the labour ward where his partner was giving birth – armed with his own television set and games console.

Maria Whitt has gone viral after sharing the video of her boyfriend, Christopher Cecil, arriving to her hospital room with stacks of boxes as she prepared to give birth to their son.

The clip, which have garnered 5.1 million views online, shows the eager dad, 34, wheel in the three large boxes, as well as a TV and games console.

The clip was met with some backlash, with users criticising the amount of things Christopher had brought with him – and judging him for bringing a games console and what was assumed to be stacks of games and gaming equipment.

One user, Sierra, commented: “I just know the nurses were talking about y’all.’

“Congrats on raising two kids at the same time,” said a second viewer.

“Bringing an Xbox to the hospital when your kid is being born is crazy,” added someone else.

Tannahlee joked: “May this love never find me.”

“I’ve had five kids and I’ve never taken more than a backpack,” added Jesse.

But all wasn’t as it seemed – with Christopher intending to distract his partner by watching a movie together.

“Seeing the negativity, I was confused as to why and how they thought all the boxes had gaming stuff,” Maria told What’s The Jam.

“I was a little sad because that was just something I posted to show how sweet my man was and it turned into a hate wagon.

“I know he overpacked but that’s what I love about him.

“He didn’t want to leave me or our baby boy and he made sure he didn’t have to.

“It ensured he could be there the whole time and he went above and beyond.”

In the boxes, instead of video games Christopher had packed hygiene products, as well as blankets and pillows from home to bring Maria comfort.

He also brought clothes for both his partner and their baby, as well as extension cables, chargers and even a projector so that his partner could watch a movie.

Maria, who lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, US, added: “We only got to watch half of a movie as we got too tired and then they took our baby to the NICU.

“Having things to watch went out the window as we were talking to doctors and walking back and forth from the room to the NICU.

“He also brought an ice chest filled with snacks and drinks.

“He did bring a TV in case he couldn’t reach the one on the wall to plug the Xbox to stream the movies.

“We intended to have our baby in the room with us so we felt we would have the opportunity to watch something.”
