A supermarket cereal display left shoppers in hysterics after it appeared to say ‘Morning Herpes’.

The Kelloggs signage was supposed to say ‘Morning Heroes’.

But a spoon used to create the ‘O’ in the second word left some customers baffled.

They thought it resembled a ‘P’.

It was spotted at Sainsbury’s in Dewsbury Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Sainsbury declined to comment.

A Kellogg’s spokesperson said: “The sign says Morning Heroes – with a spoon as an O.

“It would be misleading and inaccurate to claim it says anything else.

“This is an in-store campaign about our key cereal morning heroes to help get families ready for back to school using school bus visuals.”

But shoppers thought differently.

Al Turner, 44, said: “I thought it was funny, and a terrible graphic design choice.”

Another quipped: “Clap, crackle and pox.”

One said: ”I prefer my Herpes in the twilight hours old chap.”

Someone questioned: “Well how did they miss that?”

One person commented: “Haha this is the sort of thing they get sacked on The Apprentice for.”

Another user added: “It took me ages to work out what it actually meant.”

It isn’t the first supermarket mistake with an in-store sign, as reported by What’s The Jam.

A Tesco store in Hastings, East Sussex, misspelled the town’s name in a grammatical error.

An apostrophe was misplaced and instead read: “Serving Hasting’s shoppers a little better every day.”
