Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham, known for his role in the popular show SAS: Who Dares Wins, is leading a group of former military personnel in a high-stakes paintball challenge against 100 participants.

The 58-year-old, who boasts an impressive 27-year service in the SAS, has joined forces with the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) to support the launch of their new schedule in the UK.

Viewers can witness the action-packed showdown as Billy, along with his team, outmaneuvers their opponents in the BFBS Paintball event.

Accompanying Billy is Richard French, a former sniper with experience in the Coldstream Guards, the 3rd Battalion, and The Parachute Regiment.

Joining Billy and Richard is Hannah May, a former sergeant who served in the Royal Artillery and worked as an instructor at Larkhill, the primary training facility for artillery warfare in the British Army.

Pooling together more than six decades of military expertise, the trio tackled successive rounds of opponents armed with paintball guns.

The event, orchestrated by BFBS, unfolded at Go Paintball London, serving as a tribute to the outstanding prowess of the British armed forces and recognizing their steadfastness in challenging circumstances.

Reflecting on his participation, Billy Billingham shared,

“I have fond memories of BFBS Radio—it provided solace for me while away from home during my initial military deployments.”

He expressed delight in joining the paintball challenge as part of the launch festivities for BFBS Radio’s new UK schedule.

Billy emphasized, “This triumph underscores the diverse skills of the British armed forces and their remarkable capabilities, even when faced with daunting challenges.”

BFBS Radio provides a mix of timeless hits, contemporary tunes, and captivating content, offering audiences a glimpse into narratives from the military.

Coinciding with the unveiling of the station’s fresh lineup, the paintball extravaganza serves as a complementary celebration. Listeners can explore the new schedule via the radio app, Digital Radio, or smart speaker platforms.

The revamped schedule features a fresh national breakfast show, a globally networked drivetime program, and an evening broadcast originating from BFBS Northern Ireland.

Nicky Ness, Director of Broadcasting and Entertainment at BFBS, emphasized the station’s steadfast dedication to honoring the extraordinary abilities of the British armed forces. She stated,

“BFBS Radio is dedicated to showcasing the remarkable talents of the British military.”

Through engaging entertainment and informative content, the station endeavors to bridge the gap between the military community and the public, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation.

Ness described the paintball event as a mere glimpse into the incredible achievements of the armed forces amidst adversity, expressing pride in sharing their narrative with a global audience.
