Horrified locals called the police after they thought they spotted a human hand floating in a canal.
The apparent decomposing digits were seen poking out from the murky water.
Police officers and rescue workers were dispatched to the scene.
They found a crowd of shocked locals staring at the ‘body part’ from a bridge over the waterway.

An officer used a stick to poke the protruding extremity in Pak Nam, Samut Prakan near Bangkok, Thailand.
He noticed it was unusually pliant for human flesh.
He quickly realised it was actually a rubber glove.
It may have been discarded from a nearby market.
Those watching the scene unfold let out a chuckle of relief when they realised there was no dead body lurking beneath the water’s surface, local media report.
They soon left the area on Saturday (9 Mar) evening and went about the rest of their day.
