Mercedes-Benz has smashed records after driving an electric supercar the distance of the Earth’s circumference in just over a week.
The German giant’s Concept AMG GT XX racked up 24,901 miles in just seven days, 13 hours and 24 minutes – blitzing its own around the world in an eight day challenge.
The run took place at the high-speed Nardò test track in Italy, where drivers – including F1 ace George Russell – kept the car flying at 186mph, stopping only for rapid 850kW charging.

Two identical AMG GT XX prototypes were used, pounding round the 7.8-mile circuit for 3,177 laps, day and night, with pro drivers taking two-hour stints at the wheel, as reported by Whats The Jam.
Russell said: “As an F1 driver, I’m used to pushing technology to its absolute limits – the Concept AMG GT XX really impressed me.
“This technology will revolutionise the driving experience – both on the racetrack and on the road.”
The car also obliterated the 24-hour EV record, clocking up 2,404 miles in a single day – more than 932 miles ahead of the previous best.
Bosses say the gruelling run proves their battery tech isn’t just fast – it can go the distance.
