A 20-year-old man has taken home £1,000 for not doing anything for a day.
Benjamín Vera won the “24 hours of doing nothing” contest on Tuesday (23 Jan).
To win the competition, participants had to spend an entire day doing nada but sitting on an incline beach chair.
They were banned from using their phones or even talking to one another.

Despite the high level of interest in the contest, there were only 50 spots up for grabs.
Benjamín was one of the lucky hopefuls selected by organisers Mercado Pago – a financial institution.

After his victory, the sociology student told local media in Santiago, Chile: “The most challenging part was the 23rd hour.
“I couldn’t take it anymore.

“I was shattered, mentally, physically, and emotionally.
“I didn’t realise how I was until I got up and noticed that my legs and head hurt, and I was exhausted.”
Benjamín, who is from nearby Maipú, is now five million COP (£1,000) better off.

He hopes to spend the money on a trip with his girlfriend.
He told how in the contest’s final moments, he and the other remaining contestant engaged in a stare-off to see who would blink first.
Benjamín said: “During the tie-breaker, I was thinking about going on holiday with my girlfriend.
“Before the game began, I pictured us enjoying a holiday together.”
Benjamín doesn’t downplay the efforts that led to his victory.
He said: “It’s not at all easy to do nothing for 24 hours.
“When you’re doing nothing, you’re usually on your phone, computer, talking to someone, watching a film, and so on.
“But now, quite literally, you couldn’t do anything else but settle into your own seat.”
