A giant WWII torpedo has been found on a beach after being spotted by a stunned passerby.
The object appeared to have washed up on the shore and quickly grabbed the attention of local beachgoers.
A waste management company arrived to remove the item after a defence team was called to observe the object.

The giant steel object appeared to have eroded in places and was thought to be a barrel of chlorine gas at first.
After closer inspection, a spokeswoman for the security region said it was most likely part of a torpedo from the Second World War.
It was found to have no content inside and no explosive components, as reported by What’s The Jam.
After being discovered yesterday, the beach in Noordwijk, southwest of Amsterdam, Netherlands, was closed off for the day.
Once defence teams had determined what the mysterious object was, it was removed by the Dutch company Gebr. Van der Putten.

The company shared the news on social media, writing: “This afternoon we removed a part of a WW2 torpedo from the beach.
“It is suspected to be a torpedo propeller.”
Images of a tractor on the beach show the moment the torpedo was scooped up.

Once removed from the beach, it was placed onto a large lorry.
The spokeswoman for the security region said this was a special find.
She said those who attended the scene had never seen anything like it before.
