A 120-year-old car once owned by newspaper legend Sir Ray Tindle is heading under the hammer for £120,000.

The historic 1903 Georges Richard Brougham is in excellent condition despite being on the road for over a century.

This two-seater was part of Sir Ray’s famed motor collection.

The newspaper veteran, who sadly passed away in 2022, was a keen motoring enthusiast and often took part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, while serving as honorary vice-president of the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain.

Boasting just 10 horsepower, this vintage ride isn’t the most powerful car on the market – but it has plenty of charm.

It’s powered by a 1,400cc twin-cylinder engine, with top speed currently unknown.

The exterior is finished in dazzling red with golden trim, while the interior is also red, and the steering wheel features a striking wooden finish.

The car will go under the hammer at Bonhams on 31 October, as part of the Golden Age of Motoring sale on New Bond Street, Mayfair, London, as reported by What’s The Jam.

A spokesperson for Bonhams said: “Bonhams has its flagship London saleroom situated on prestigious New Bond Street in the heart of Mayfair.

“Viewing and auctions take place throughout the year, and it is there that buyers will find antiques and fine art of the highest quality.

“Specialists in all Bonhams core departments are based in New Bond Street and are available to give free auction estimates and advice on buying and selling by auction.
