Jimmy Carr has got his classic 60s Aston Martin DB6 converted into an electric motor.

The TV funnyman’s 150mph vintage sports car is worth about £250,000.

It could do a top speed of 150mph and go from 0-60mph in just 6.1 seconds.

But Carr, 52, previously joked the motor was “f*cking pointless” because he claimed it was unreliable.

But the stand-up has just forked out to have the dark grey car converted to clean, all-electric power.

It has been filed with 60kWh state-of-the-art batteries and has a range of 150 miles.

What’s more, it hasn’t lost out on performance as it can still whizz to 60mph from a standing start in 6.5 seconds.

The work has been carried out by British EV technology company Electrogenic.

A spokesperson said: “The stylish British classic, an automotive icon of the swinging sixties, has now been future-proofed for an age of low-carbon motoring.

“Combining glorious looks with lively performance and total reliability – all with zero tailpipe emissions.

“As with all conversions carried out by Electrogenic, nothing is cut, drilled or welded on the original car, and each conversion is entirely reversible.”

The Oxford-based firm has previously converted a 1920s Rolls-Royce Phantom II to electric power for Hollywood actor Jason Momoa.

In a 2021 interview, Carr was asked if he owned anything that was flashy, as reported on Whats The Jam.

“I’ve got a nice DB6 from the late sixties,” he said.

“Yeah, I mean it’s a very beautiful car.

“But I mean, it’s f*cking pointless.”

He quipped, “I mean, it comes with an AA truck.”

Steve Drummond, CEO, Electrogenic, said: “We were delighted to be asked to convert Jimmy Carr’s cherished Aston Martin DB6 from petrol to state-of-the-art electric power.

Electrogenic’s conversion gives it effortless and reliable performance to match its stunning looks, and we’re extremely proud of the results.

“As with all our work with classic vehicles, the conversion is in keeping with the original character of the car, delivering a familiar but now hassle-free driving experience.

“The Electrogenic Aston Martin DB6 has ample reserves of power to match its celebrated design.

“All with the convenience of total reliability and zero tailpipe emissions. It’s a delight to drive and a real head turner.”

It will go on display at the prestigious Salon Privé concours at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, on Sunday (31 Aug).
