The name relates to a short, slow delivery in cricket.

The pub is set to open its doors on 1 August.

It is located in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, about 30 miles from his first pub called The Tap and Run – also cricket lingo

It opened in 2018 but was gutted by a blaze in June 2022, but was rebuilt and reopened a year later.

Broad, 29, then opened The Griffin Inn, nearby in Swithland, Leics, in March last year.

He owns them under his The Cat & Wickets Pub Company with pal Harry Gurney.

A spokesperson said: “Exciting news from the Cat & Wickets family.

“We’re delighted to announce that our third pub is on the way.

“Introducing The Long Hop, taking over the site formerly known as The Winery in Burton-on-Trent.

Cricket fans and customers at his other two pubs were bowled over, as reported on What’s The Jam.

Hannah Collins said: “Cannot wait to visit.”

Stephanie Shaw added: “Fantastic news.

“Can’t wait to see it.”

Paul Breedon joked: “The empire building continues.”

He retired two years ago and is England’s second highest Test wicket taker ever with 604.
