Frontman of The Charlatans, Tim Burgess, made a kind gesture for his fans after his gig was cancelled due to bad weather – picking up their bar tab.
Bands New Order and The Charlatans had to cancel their gigs for safety due to bad weather in Cardiff at the Alexandra Head last night (22 August).
To combat the disappointment, the 57-year-old generously put £500 behind a bar for his fans who had tickets, to enjoy.
He said on X: “From 6pm tonight there’ll be £500 behind the bar at @TinyRebelCdff.
“It’s open all day so you can head down there early.
“Liam has promised that the tunes will be amazing (plenty of Charlatans and New Order).
“A chance for those who have travelled to get together.
“Sorry again, Tim.”
And, later, the frontman updated fans saying: “Breaking news: @tinyrebelbrewco have matched my £500 so there’s £1,000 behind the bar later for fans of @thecharlatans and @neworder at @TinyRebelCdff.
“It’s already bouncing down there according to sources, the music is ace and fans are meeting up / meeting for the first time.”
Fans loved the generous move, reports What’s The Jam.
Colin said: “This is brilliant Tim. I got the news before driving down there so I’m home but I love all the you’ve done to keep the folks there updated, lubricated and entertained.”
“Aw god that’s unreal,” added Karen.
Ceriann commented: “You are a top man Tim, lovely gesture!”
“Tim further cementing legend status. Going to be a great night!” said Glen.
“Nice one, Tim. Very thoughtful,” added Chris
