A mother has been left fuming after her neighbour refused to cut down their tree, which is wrecking her fence, damaging the home and blocking four hours of sunlight every day.

Elle Smith has slammed her next-door neighbour’s towering tree, which has turned her garden into a no-go zone because of constant bird poo left on her furniture and patio.

The aesthetics and beauty practitioner has claimed that the neighbours have been ordered to cut it down – but there are no signs of removal yet.

The fern feud has dragged on for the last four months – leaving Elle’s garden almost completely unusable.

“I am growing frustrated,” Elle, from Hertfordshire, told Whats The Jam.

“The sun is fully in my garden up until around 11am, then it slowly creeps behind the tree and is gone by 2pm.

“I don’t really use my garden much, as I worry I’ll get pooped on – which has happened a few times to all of us.”

Elle has claimed that not only does her garden and all the furniture get covered in poo, but the tree itself is also actually damaging the property.

The mother has claimed the tree is causing her fences to collapse and the slabs to be unearthed by roots.

With no removal date set in stone yet, Elle has been left fearing the worst.

She said: “I worry the tree will collapse, as we have had quite a few windy days so far this year.

“I worry a branch will break, and I worry my fence will finally collapse.

“I also worry that the roots will start to damage my cabin, garage or even my house.

“Every time my kids play, I have to clean the bird poo as they appear daily.

“If I had the energy, I would have to sweep every day as well; every couple of weeks I have to jet wash as the build-up gets too bad.

“Due to the hosepipe ban, I can’t do it at the moment.

“The bird poo has actually stained my patio, and I can’t remove it.

“I found a dead bird last week, and the blood from the bird has also stained the patio.”

Elle moved into the home with her kids in April this year, when she immediately started noticing the issues caused by the tree.

After the first two months, she decided to contact her landlord about the fence being lifted out of the posts.

Her landlord, whom she has praised, contacted the neighbour immediately.

Elle said: “My landlord gave them two weeks to respond.

“On the last day of the two weeks, they called and advised they were on holiday for a further two weeks, and when they returned, the tree would be removed.

“That was two months ago now, and they haven’t removed it yet; my housing is chasing them for an update.

“Words mean nothing; I would like to see action.”

As her frustration grew, Elle decided to share the feud on social media, with her garden video gaining over 170,000 views.

She claims she received a lot of ‘anger’ towards her stance on wanting the tree to be removed.

Elle said: “A lot of people show anger towards people who complain about neighbours’ trees.

“I don’t hate trees, and I’m not anti towards people having them in their garden.

“My neighbour to the left of me has a gorgeous tree, and she regularly cuts it; she even offers to come into my garden and cut the branches hanging over my fence.

“It’s when people don’t look after their trees and even bushes and make it an inconvenience to others around them.

“Many times I’ve been walking along public footpaths, and bushes from people’s properties are so overgrown you find yourself crossing the road or actually stepping onto the road.

“I think it’s very selfish and unfair to others.

“I have said I am more than happy to donate to a charity to plant more trees if it offends many people that mine and my children’s home and safety comes before my neighbour’s tree.”
