Marks & Spencer has brought back its viral strawberry sandwich – and launched a brand-new chocolate and pistachio version that is already sending shoppers into a frenzy.
The retailer first sparked a social media storm last summer when it unveiled its Red Diamond Strawberry & Creme Sandwich, inspired by Japanese fruit sandos.
The sweet treat proved an instant hit, with more than 75,000 sold in just five days as Foodhall shoppers raced to get their hands on one.

Now M&S is hoping lightning strikes twice by bringing back the original sandwich and launching a new Chocolate, Strawberry & Pistachio Creme Sandwich, as reported by What’s The Jam.
The limited-edition dessert combines British strawberries with pistachio creme and Fairtrade Belgian chocolate sauce, layered between cocoa-enriched sweetened bread.
The original Red Diamond Strawberry & Creme Sandwich features what M&S describes as the UK’s sweetest strawberries paired with whipped cream cheese inside soft sweetened bread.
The returning favourite costs £2.80, while the new chocolate and pistachio version is priced at £3.50.
Shoppers first spotted the latest creation arriving in stores this week, with food social media account NewfoodsUK sharing a snap of it online.

One shopper commented: “I won’t rest until I find it.”
Another customer, who had already managed to get hold of one, wrote: “I’ve just had one and it was delicious x.”
The launch forms part of a wider strawberry and pistachio-themed range hitting stores this summer.

Alongside the sandwiches, M&S has also unveiled two new dessert dips for its popular picky bits range.
The Strawberry and Cream Fruity Dip (£3.25) combines strawberry compote with whipped cream, full-fat soft cheese and Greek-style yoghurt.
Meanwhile, the Chocolate and Pistachio Velvety Dip (£3.75) features chocolate ganache blended with pistachio creme and topped with crunchy pistachio pieces.
M&S has described the new Chocolate, Strawberry & Pistachio Creme Sandwich as “the UK’s first dessert sandwich”.
According to the retailer, the sweet snack combines ripe British strawberries with smooth pistachio creme and rich Belgian chocolate spread.
