Comedian John Bishop was left shocked after a visit to see his waxwork at Madame Tussauds didn’t go to plan.
The joke was on the 57-year-old stand-up whilst on a day out in Blackpool.
The funnyman decided to go and see his wax made doppelganger.
He thought it would be funny to go in and take a picture with the model.
In 2015, the Liverpudlian was honoured with having his own waxwork feature at Madame Tussauds in the Lancashire resort.
However, when getting to the front desk he was informed by members of staff that the waxwork was no longer there.
One member of staff stated that the doppelganger had been gone ‘“or a few years.”
John was left in stitches by the incident, stating: “I’ve had some knock backs in my career but that is a proper kick in the b*llocks from Madame Tussauds.
“There was a waxwork model of me in there and I thought it’d be really funny to have a photograph with my own waxwork model.
“I’ve gone in and they’ve said it’s been taken down.
“I’ve been melted.
“When Madame Tussauds turns you into a candle for Christmas.”
Madame Tussauds often change the models on display to the public to make way for other celebrities and displays.
Fans of the comedian found the incident hilarious, as reported by What’s The Jam.
One said: “Somewhere there’s a 12 inch white candle that used to be John Bishop’s teeth.”
Elinor Marion said: “How very dare they, what has the world come to when you get melted down.”
Denise added: “They should have at least made you aware.”
Stephanie Baird said: “I wonder who your melted wax became instead.”
Another said: “Could’ve at least asked if you wanted for your house.”
The waxwork was removed to make way for other models, it is understood.
Madame Tussauds has been approached for comment.
