A Christmas shopper got a soggy surprise after taking a shortcut over a beach with bags of festive shopping
The woman in white top and black trousers and laden with yuletide gifts and wrapping paper.
But she tried to cross rocks but was swamped by the incoming tide.
Luckily despite getting wet feet and legs she managed to reach safety.

It happened at Towan beach, Newquay, Cornwall.
Robert Taylor saw the drama, and told What’s The Jam: “She had bags of Christmas goods including crackers, wrapping paper.
“She decided a shortcut across the beach was the best way home.
“But it went awry when she stepped on the seaweed covered rocks.

“She lost her footing and was delayed.
“The waves came in and dampened her festive spirit somewhat.
“She had wet feet, trousers and a dripping tote bag.

“But at least she made it safely to dry ground.”
Towan beach is known for its wide expanse of sand and popularity with surfers.
It is also near Newquay’s main town centre shopping area.
One local joked: “Too much mulled wine.”

“Oh no,” another said.
Someone else added: “You only live once.
“I’d do that I love a challenge.”
A more sympathetic local: “Just don’t stand there, bleeding help her.”
