A Brit is flogging an iconic 80s electric motor that flopped for just £550, but it could be worth thousands.

A Sinclair C5, the electric tricycle that famously bombed in the 1980s, is being sold on Facebook Marketplace.

The quirky one-seater was dreamed up by British boffin Sir Clive Sinclair and was meant to revolutionise cheap, eco-friendly travel.

But it failed commercially due to its limited range, low speed of around 15mph, open design, and perceived lack of safety, despite its futuristic look and low running costs.

It used a plastic body, a steel chassis, and had one front wheel for steering with two rear wheels.

Only about 5,000 of the 14,000 produced were sold before production ceased.

It’s being advertised in Bexleyheath, Kent, as reported by Whats The Jam.

The seller wrote: “Selling a vintage Sinclair C5 – iconic 1980s electric trike.

“Great restoration project or donor vehicle.

“Includes original body shell with pedals & steering, Hoover 250W 12V motor, spare wheels, belts, wiring loom, control box and charger.
