‘ChatGPT, can you please design a cute scarf for winter?’
Balenciaga is selling a basic blue silk scarf in its latest collection for an eye-watering £220 – despite the product having been created by artificial intelligence.
The product, which is made in royal and gold silk twill, is part of the Winter 25 women’s range.

Featuring a square look, it measures 21.6×21.6 inches.
At first glance, it’s an admittedly cute scarf made by a designer brand.

But look closer in the right-hand corner and you’ll notice three words in small print: ‘Balenciaga AI generated’.
It’s unclear if the product was the brainchild of a human who simply used AI to help bring it to life – or if AI actually came up with the pattern.

But you’ll be paying through the nose for the tiny scarf – titled Women’s Ai Scarf in Gold – either way.

This isn’t the only controversial product in Balenciaga’s latest winter line.
Last month, What’s The Jam reported that the company was selling a basic plastic bag for £775.

Whereas most supermarket bags are made from polyethene, this version is composed of polyamide and Dyneema.
It has two handles and an inner flat pocket that allows you to pack it “into a pouch”.
According to Balenciaga, the bag can be used to hold all your essentials, from your smartphone to a laptop that weighs a maximum of 10kg.
