A ‘transnational’ woman has revealed that she identifies as French – even though she has never visited the country and can’t speak the language.
The unnamed young woman said in an interview on TikTok that she considers herself ‘transnational’ and that she feels like she is French.
The interviewer, TikTokker Cris Norway, spoke to the woman as part of an online challenge, in which he asks people what they think the public doesn’t accept.

Upon speaking to this woman, she said that people don’t believe in ‘transnational’ people.
She explains that although she was born in Colombia, she identifies as being born in France.
She said that she lives and feels like a French citizen – but goes on to reveal that she does not speak French and has never visited the country.
The interviewee says: “Transnational people exist.
“We are the people who were born in a place and feel identified with another nationality other than the country of our origin.

“I was born in Colombia, but I feel French.
“I dress like a French woman.“I lead my life like a French woman.
“I have no connection with Colombia.

“I try to neutralise my accent because I don’t feel Colombian.
“I don’t speak French and I haven’t been to France.”
The post has since been deleted after sparking controversy online.
