A bride has been roasted online for asking her guests to shell out over £200 each to attend her shower – on top of other costs.
The woman, who is getting married at the end of July, was outed by her cousin.
Asking social media users for advice, the guest explains that, as a close relative, she is “expected” to attend the shower and was sent a link to reserve her place at the venue.

But when clicking on it, she was requested to pay a fee.
When querying this with the bride, the woman was promptly told that “everyone is paying their own way”.
On top of this, the relative has already paid for a very pricey hen do and had to flog out cash for her own bridesmaid dress, too.
“My cousin is getting married and I am expected to attend her bridal shower at the end of July,” they said.
“She sent me a link last week to reserve my spot at the venue.

“When I went to do it, it required me to pay $300 [£236].
“I asked her about it and she said that everyone is paying their own way.
“I am beyond annoyed and can’t get over how tacky that is.

“Is this a common or normal practice? I am in the bridal party and am expected to attend this thing, not going isn’t an option unfortunately.
“Also it is at a winery and I don’t drink so I’m paying for something that I will not be consuming.
“To say I’m beyond annoyed is an understatement. Am i justified in feeling this way?”
The cousin reveals that she was planning to give the bride $500 [£393] as a wedding gift, as reported by What’s The Jam.
But she has already splashed out $1,000 [£787] to attend the hen do and pay for her bridesmaid dress.
The mum added: “I’ve already invested a lot of money into this wedding and I feel like she keeps piling on more things that I have to shell out money for and I’m sick of it.
“I’d also have to get a babysitter for this bridal shower because it is on a weekday (Wednesday, how random??) so my husband will be at work.”
The news has left social media users horrified, with many sharing their thoughts on the pricey celebration.
And they are backing the guest.
“Not normal,” said one person.
“I would decline. That’s ridiculous,” added someone else.
Another infuriated person said: “Paying to attend an event where a gift is also expected? No way. That plus what you have already spent is crazy. It’s like she’s willing to spare no expense when it’s everyone else’s money. Were the bridesmaid dresses also quite expensive?”
The guest replied, explaining that the cost of the dress was $200 [£157] but she managed to find one for just $50 [£40].
Someone else reassured the mum, saying: “Not going is 100% an option. Tell her you can’t afford it on top of all the other wedding expenses. And do not give her $500.”
Another person said: “This is not ‘normal’. It’s rude to expect people to fork over this kind of money for a shower. You nailed it when you said tacky.”
After much ado, the guest has decided to take the internet’s advice.
In an update, she added: “I am cancelling my ticket and will tell her that I can’t make it.
“Thank you everyone for reassuring me that my annoyance is justified!!”
