A TikToker has shown off her “squishy” forehead after getting severely sunburned on her first day on holiday.
When Presley Carman decided to enjoy a day on the beach, the 21-year-old had not expected the horror nightmare that soon followed.
She was taking a break in the sun with her boyfriend.
A few days in, she noticed her forehead swelling up with excessive fluid, a condition known as edema [when fluid gets trapped in the body’s tissues].
Presley was mostly confined to her hotel room while recovering.
She later shared a video of her bizarre sunburn symptoms on TikTok, which has gone viral with 18.2m views and nearly 8,000 comments.
The caption said: “Got burned on my first day in Florida…”
The day after the incident in Destin, Florida, US, Presley posted several videos explaining that the puffiness had gone down but her eyes were now swollen.
She bought a cortisone cream from a local pharmacy that helped her condition, as reported by What’s The Jam, saying: “No more squishy forehead but my eyes are getting worse.”
But two days later, the swelling was still in place.
She said: “Forehead is peeling, nose and eyes are super swollen, and I don’t feel the greatest, but it’s getting better!”
Three days later, her condition had finally improved.
She said: “Feeling better, I think it’s over.
“Going back to the beach but this time I’ll wear sunscreen!”
Social media users have been left shocked by the extreme sunburn.
One fan commented: “You just gave me a new fear.”
Another said: “It sure was squishy.”
Kerri wrote: “Cortisone cream will be your best friend and take the burning away, you won’t peel and the swelling will go down.”
Aliyah added: “I got sun poisoning while I was in Florida, half my face was numb and my burn was blistering.”
Breeze said: “Friend, that looked so painful.”
