A woman found out she has been living with the wrong name for most of her life due to a small error her mum made on her birth certificate.
Gabrielle Mayor has left TikTok users in fits of laughter with the hysterical revelation – which only came to light 15 years after she was born.
While applying for her learner’s driving licence, the 25-year-old recalls feeling confused as they informed her that there was no one registered in the system with her name.
Suddenly, a ‘Babrielle Mayor’ popped up and Gabrielle, who goes by @gabbymayor on Instagram, connected the dots – and realised she had been going by the wrong name.

“It was a total accident on the birth certificate, as my mum was meant to name me Gabrielle,” she told NeedToKnow.co.uk
“I was just in shock, especially as I’m very close with my family and I couldn’t understand how this never came up in conversation in 15 years.
“I was so upset that I couldn’t get my permit that day.”
But as her name has since been officially changed to the correct spelling, and she has been granted her license, Gabrielle is able to laugh about the bizarre ordeal with her family and decided to share it online.
In the TikTok, which has racked up 4.9 million views and 400,000 likes, she looks downcast as writing onscreen reads: “Thinking about how my parents made a typo on my birth certificate and I didn’t find out until age 15 that my real name is actually Babrielle.”

“My name was Aslhey instead of Ashley for 20 years,” another user revealed.
Valorie Lawhorn commented: “At 16 I found out birth certificate had ‘Tracy.’ My name is Valorie.”
“Babs era,” someone else said.
Bella added: “Could have at least been Barbrielle so you can be Barbie haha.”
Luckily, she can now see the funny side.
Gabrielle added: “My mum sent me a photo of my original birth certificate [recently] and it’s kind of funny seeing the real thing.
“Although I wonder what my life would’ve been like if I had kept it as Babrielle.”
