An influencer has left social media users baffled after claiming to cover up her belly button with a plaster in an attempt to protect herself from negative energies.
María De Mondo, known as (@mariademondo ), on TikTok, shares tidbits of her life online, as well as general tips, lifestyle hacks and videos about women’s health.
In a recent clip, which has almost one million views, she reveals why she uses a band-aid to keep her safe from other people’s energies.
And social media users aren’t quite sure what to make of it.

‘“A few months ago, I felt that every time I went to places like restaurants, shopping centres, the city centre… my energy was completely discharged,” María, from Spain, says.
“So I put a band-aid on it [my belly button] because the navel can absorb other people’s energy.
“What the band-aid does is protect me from that energy and also prevents my own energy from coming out.”
The clip has so far gained 15,800 likes, as well as 900 comments from baffled users.
Mirella said: “So the navel is a spiritual plug?”

Others mocked the influencer for the strange hack.
“I wear a tangerine in my armpit, it works great,” said JM.
“I spread Nutella, it has the same effect and I can bite it if I’m hungry,” added Laurie.
“I was waiting for her to say it was so she wouldn’t get any fuzz,” commented one follower.
“I have tried it and now my energy goes down,” said someone else.
“IT HAPPENS TO ME TOO,” Tusmuer added.
