A woman who ‘married and divorced’ a ghost claims to now be seeing spirits everywhere – even capturing one creepy encounter on camera.
Brocarde, a singer and songwriter from Oxfordshire, made headlines after falling in love with Edwardo – the ghost of a Victorian soldier – in late 2021 after he appeared in her home.
But the 40-year-old called it quits last summer after a rocky marriage marred with cheating allegations and him often ‘ghosting’ her for days on end.

Since then, she tried to have a “ghost-free” chapter – but the “hypersensitive” woman claims she can’t escape the paranormal, and has taken to becoming something of a ghost hunter.
During a recent visit to the historical landmark of Bodmin Jail in Cornwall, Brocarde filmed herself communicating with what she believes are lost souls who died there.
The most harrowing of which, she claims, was the spirit of a young boy – whose presence she describes while on camera.
“A strong spirit I could sense was a defiant young boy, floppy messy hair, dishevelled-looking but cheeky,” the singer told What’s The Jam.
“His height was about mid-thigh on me, so I’d guess [he was] around six or seven years old.

“It was his fighting spirit that impacted me the most because he was trying to play hopscotch.
“He would laugh and jump and each time his legs would get kicked out from under him, he would fall to the floor, but definitely stand back up and keep playing.
“Each time he got kicked, I would feel the sensation in my shin, like I was being kicked.

“It was his tenacity that touched me the most – his fighting spirit like he wasn’t going to be defeated, his spirit wasn’t going to be broken.
“The prison confirmed that there were in fact children imprisoned at Bodmin as, in those times, there was no legal age of criminal responsibility.”
Brocarde ventured into the basement, which is closed to the public but she claims she was given special access as she was filming for a TV show while there, she found a tunnel.
She said: “When I was in this tunnel, I came face to face with the spirit of this young boy.
“He was devilish and wanted me to play.
“I feel like we connected because of our mutually rebellious spirits.”
Brocarde claims that, prior to her visit, she had started to sense an otherworldly presence pushing her to go.
She said: “On the run-up to visiting the prison, I was awoken several times to the vision of a man frantically sobbing – he was wailing and crying out for a loved one.
“When I stepped foot inside the jail, this sound and vision was amplified and I could see him persistently calling for a person named Millicent.
“His whimpering continued inside the cells, echoing off the walls ‘Millicent, Millie, my Mills’.
“It wasn’t obvious at first if this was his child or partner, but it was an affectionate cry for a loved one he longed to be reunited with.
“He later revealed that he’d murdered her in one split second of rage, but he regretted this and he was yearning for her and longing to see her again.
“I asked the prison if there was a record of this murder but they don’t have historical records of any victims, just of those who were hanged.
“I thought there was something sad about this as the criminals are somehow remembered but the victims forgotten.”
Brocarde has recently started embracing the spirits she encounters.
She said: “I don’t really feel like it was a decision, more a calling, to be a paranormal investigator.
“Nothing in life happens for no reason and once you marry a ghost life is never the same again.
“For a long time, I wanted to be ghost-free because some of my experiences with Edwardo were terrifying, but I consulted with a medium who made me a lot less fearful.
“She taught me that I needed to harness and embrace my gift and not see it as something to be afraid of, so that’s what I’m doing.
“When I see spirits and talk to ghosts, they aren’t always forthcoming when it comes to their life story.
“Often we will connect and the strongest thing that takes over me is their emotion.
“I’m emphatic to the emotions of spirits and I can often sense the pain, or the anger, or the emotions that make them unrested.
“When a spirit connects, sometimes they want empathy or understanding, they often don’t want to be tested.
“Over time if a spirit attaches itself to you more will be revealed – like with Edwardo.”
Brocarde, who shared the spooky encounter on her website, says her paranormal encounters were spurred on by her infamous relationship with her ghostly ex.
She said: “Before Edwardo, I didn’t see or hear ghosts.
“He opened all of my senses to the spirit world.
“Without him, none of this would be possible.
“I see Edwardo sometimes, from a distance. He looks back at me and smiles, which is funny because he used to have a harrowed sad expression.
“I feel like he’s looking out for me from afar.”
