The spooky footage starts with a pet dog barking agitatedly from its owner’s front garden.
Seconds later, an unearthly creature is spotted sprinting down the road in an unnatural, crouched-over position.
It disappears as the dog falls silent.
The eerie scenes were filmed in the town of José de San Martín, Argentina.
They were caught by the security camera in a 30 second video attached to a police officer’s house.
Locals have been speculating that the creature may be a goblin or a gremlin
Others said it could even be one of Santa’s elves as it occurred on Christmas Eve (24 Dec).
María commented: “Goblins are small creatures and don’t cause harm.
“My dad used to talk to us about goblins.
“When I was a child, I saw goblins in my town. Small, pointy-eared creatures.”
Eira simply wrote: “Yes, they exist.”
But David hit back: “That wouldn’t be a goblin. I saw that in a field.
“Dogs are terrified of it.
“They run like rabbits and zigzag.”
