Megan Tompkins, a young woman from Risca, near Newport, south Wales, has developed a strong affinity for mayonnaise over the past four years.

Her condiment of choice is Heinz Seriously Good Mayonnaise. Megan consumes an average of three 775g bottles of mayonnaise per week, totaling approximately 120,900g annually from the 156 containers she consumes.

Each bottle costs £3 from Tesco, amounting to a weekly expenditure of £9 or £468 annually.

Despite her partner Joe’s disapproval, Megan incorporates mayonnaise into almost every meal, including common dishes like pizza and jacket potatoes.

However, her culinary adventures extend beyond convention, as she also adds mayonnaise to unexpected dishes like curry and porridge.

Megan is so committed to her love for mayonnaise that she ensures she always has emergency bottles on hand when dining out, and her car is consistently stocked with a spare bottle.

According to Megan, her love for mayonnaise extends beyond her own consumption; it even influences the gifts she receives on her birthday. She candidly admits to using up to three bottles of mayo per week, as her partner rarely indulges in it.

Megan told What’s The Jam: “ I’d say I use up to three bottles a week, my partner rarely has mayo so that’s all eaten by me. My friends and family think it’s hilarious, but also very much disgusting.”

While Megan’s friends and family find her mayo obsession amusing, they also find it somewhat repulsive. Despite her partner’s resignation to her unusual habit, Megan acknowledges the odd looks she receives when requesting mayo in restaurants.

For her birthday, she receives numerous bottles of mayo as gifts, which she views as both humorous and practical. Megan doesn’t consider her fondness for mayo an addiction, asserting that she could stop if necessary, although it would detract from her enjoyment of certain meals.

Her mayo madness extends beyond the confines of her home; she always carries backup mayo bottles and sachets, even ensuring that her car and work bag are well-stocked.

Megan is meticulous about ensuring that any dining plans outside her home include mayo, often calling ahead to her family’s or friends’ homes to confirm its availability.

She expresses particular delight in dining at restaurants that provide bottles of mayo on the table, eliminating the need to request sachets.

Megan’s mayo devotion extends to her dining experiences. She typically uses six sachets per meal and always keeps a backup supply in her car.

Megan stated, “Because I usually have at least six sachets on a meal and they never bring you that many,” emphasizing the importance of having mayo readily available. Additionally, she noted, “Usually I have a backup in my car anyway so it doesn’t happen often,” highlighting her preparedness for any mayo-related emergencies.
