A man has found a mysterious “mummified alien foetus” in a cave.

Although he’s unsure what the strange skeleton could be, he claimed “it isn’t human”.

Edu Survivencia left his home in Monterrey, Mexico, to explore the protected area of Cerro de las Mitras just outside the city.

Popular with hikers, the area boasts stunning mountain views and a network of caves.

In one such hollow, Edu came across the remains of a strange creature.

He said: “I was well hidden. In the cave, it was dark and very dirty and I didn’t think about it too much in that moment.

“I now keep it in a box and I don’t dare touch it without gloves.”

Edu shared the images in a Facebook post, which has over 2,000 comments and was shared 3,000 times, as reported by What’s the Jam.

Some users said the mummified corpse is “alien” or possibly “goblin” while others believed it to be a mummified human foetus that dates back to prehispanic times.

One local said: “I don’t want to look at it anymore, it makes me scared. I would never have touched it, how brave you are!”

Another wrote: “Looks like a little bird.”

Iván wrote: “Take it for an X-ray with trustworthy people who would treat the issue appropriately.”

Stephanie commented: “It’s a baby alien.”

Claudio remarked: “It’s the body of a goblin.”

Sara said: “They are among us.”

In a follow-up post, Edu said he has since returned to the cave to “keep looking for evidence”.

The discovery appears similar to a previous find in the Atacama Desert in Chile in 2003.

A tiny corpse, dubbed Ata, was found by Oscar Muñoz in an abandoned church.

He later sold it to Spanish businessman and researcher Ramón Navia-Osorio Villar.

Navia-Osorio believed the skeleton came from a small race of people who used to co-exist with the Aymara people in South America many years ago.

He said: “They were very small people who lived in caves and only came out at night, hence its strange almond-shaped eyes.

“A native friend from the Aymara tribe told me that these beings used to live with their ancestors before the Spanish settlers arrived.”

The latest discovery has also been compared to the mummified life forms that were presented in the Mexican congress by ufologist Jaime Maussan in September last year.

The bodies were found near Peru’s ancient Nazca lines.

However, many scientists slammed Maussan’s mummies as fake.
