It was unearthed with around 30 other ordinary-looking yams on the same plot.
The farmer was shocked by its shape, stating that he had never seen anything like it before.
The Chinese yam (Dioscorea polystachya) resembled the lower arm of a human, complete with ‘fingernail’ outlines at the tips.
It appeared to have four fingers and a thumb while the opposite side resembled the palm.
It was unearthed at the farmer’s property in Jieyang in Guangdong Province, China, on Tuesday (17 Mar).

But the farmer politely declined all offers despite admitting that he doesn’t know what to do with it yet.
It is not uncommon for Chinese yams to sprout into unusual shapes.
When they grow underground, they are affected by external factors such as soil hardness, stones, and root systems, which can change their growth direction and shape.
In rare cases, they can sprout in shapes that resemble human limbs or facial features, as reported by WhatsTheJam.
Regardless of their final shape, their taste and nutritional value do not change.
