Used funeral flowers and displays are now being sold on Vinted and it’s left people seriously divided.

Multiple sellers have explained that it’s a way to reduce waste, especially when it comes to plastic displays.

“After my grandad’s funeral, we just [didn’t] need it anymore and as it’s artificial, it makes sense to be reused [by] someone if they need it,” one seller told What’s The Jam.

This particular seller included the caption “used once” alongside the pictures of the floral display’ that reads ‘Dad’, which is being sold for £50 (£53.20 including postage).

Another seller, who is flogging a football shirt-shaped wreath for £40 (£42.70 including postage) explained that they actually rent out artificial funeral flowers – which actually makes a lot of sense when you consider that they are only used once.

They said: “I have too much stock [the moment] so I need to sell some items.”

However, people on social media have been left divided by the unusual listings after one was shared on TikTok.

One viewer wrote: “Erm no, they shouldn’t be sold on Vinted.”

A second added: “It’s vulgar.”

A third wrote: “Each to their own, but not once with my mum’s, [uncle’s] or bros funeral did it enter my head to sell them.”

A fourth wrote: “Wow no limits.”

But not everyone was so critical of the listings, with many claiming it makes an expensive one-time purchase that bit more affordable and cuts down on needless waste to boot.

One viewer wrote: “I think it’s down to personal choice. They are beautiful but they are wasted once the funeral is over. I know people who take them home.”

A second revealed: “I bought my ‘dad’ flower block on Vinted [and] just added my own flowers. Funerals are EXPENSIVE and this would probably ease the strain on the seller and the buyer.”

A third wrote: “A lot of people can’t afford them. Well done to the people selling them.”

A fourth added: “It’s recycling, the crematorium will just throw them away. My mum asked for no flowers because of this reason and the cost.”

A fifth wrote: “This is a great thing to do, recycling flowers for another family. There’s nothing wrong in that at all.”
