An urban explorer who discovered an abandoned funeral home has given viewers a glimpse inside the derelict building.

Ben Stevens found decaying hearses, diagrams of the human body and “creepy” embalming rooms when he visited the dilapidated property alone.

The 30-year-old said it was as though the entire home had been “frozen in time”.

“It was quite a big place and what I liked about it is there were quite a few hearses left,” Ben, from Cambridgeshire, UK, told What’s The Jam.

“There were about six or seven all in states of decay.

“Another thing I especially liked was that was it was pretty much frozen in time.

“The place was very hot inside because obviously it was sitting without air conditioning.”

Ben found the property located in Virginia, in the US.

Inside were bottles of chemicals, various stools and abandoned tabletops.

After exploring the offices on site, he discovered dozens of files which had been left inside cabinets.

There was also a chapel, which Ben didn’t spend too much time in as the ceiling was beginning to collapse.

He said: “It came with the main prep room for embalming, as well as a chapel that was starting to collapse.

“As I chose to go alone, it was quite creepy.

“I found out about it from someone who follows my page online.

“They live in the same town and they said that it had been abandoned for a number of years and that I should go and check it out.”

“It literally just sits in the town and people are too afraid to go inside.”
