An influencer has shared his experience staying in a “coffin-like” hotel room costing just £20 per night.
Joe Leggett, 24, was in London for work and needed a place to stay the night that didn’t break the bank.
The content creator scoured social media in an attempt to find a place that looked worthwhile and ended up seeing the Zedwell Piccadilly Circus Hotel.
Joe had already spent a lot travelling in from Norwich, where he lives, so the budget stay offered the perfect opportunity to save some money.
And with it only costing £20, it was a no brainer.
But there was a catch – he had booked a “capsule room” which is essentially a small box with a bed to sleep in and nothing else.
He shared a review of his stay, with the clip racking up 4.9m views and over 366,000 likes.
“Honestly, my stay was great,” Joe told What’s The Jam.
“It was perfect really – the pods were really cosy I thought.”
He ended up enjoying his stay so much that he chose to book another night, costing an additional £24.
It appears the box room is now Joe’s accommodation of choice whenever visiting the capital.
Users have flocked to the comments to share their thoughts.
One person said: “I’m hiring one just to leave my Christmas shopping in so I don’t have to carry it all day genius.”
Karen added: “No good if you’re claustrophobic!”
Kell said: “If you fart in that, you’re doomed.”
One person said: “It’s a no from me, it would be like sleeping in a coffin, would panic, wake up screaming, wake everyone else up, hit my head and get concussion, be locked in from the inside and fire and rescue can’t get to me, would come round, panic some more, try and stand up, and the whole cycle starts again.”
Another user added: “Hold on… you can padlock from the outside??? Yeah sod that my worst nightmare would be someone locking me in!”
