Prospective renters have been left horrified by a flat listing showing a toilet directly next to the bed – dubbed an “open plan en suite” by the agent.
The duplex studio is located on Burleigh Mews in Derby, and priced at £795 per month with bills included.
While the downstairs is relatively unassuming, with a neat living area and open plan kitchen, upstairs is a slightly different story.

Rather than having traditional staples like, say, a door to the bathroom, the toilet, basin, shower and heated towel rack have been plonked directly next to the bed.
The listing describes the bizarre set up as an “open plan en suite”, reports What’s The Jam.
While it also boasts a city centre __cpLocation, “high specification” and being “fully refurbished” with electric heating, TikTok users were left less than impressed.
Pictures of the property were shared on the app, garnering 95,000 views and leaving viewers in disbelief.
One person commented: “Imagine the invisible bacteria when you flush.”

“As someone from Derby who lived in town for many years this is absolutely INSANE,” said another viewer.
Someone else added: “Where the hell is the lid for the toilet? Why is it just open?”
“This can’t be real,” said another shocked user.

“It’s giving prison,” commented someone else.
The property listing reads: “On entering the property is the open plan living room and kitchen.
“The room is fit with sofas/arm chairs, coffee table and a TV.
“The kitchen is equipped with an integrated fridge/freezer, electric oven/hob and extractor fan.
“To the first floor is the double bedroom with open plan en suite.
“With a double bed, bed side tables and a chest of drawers.
“Electric heating. Allocated parking for one car.”
