Eerie footage shows the inside of an abandoned school where a hit British TV drama was filmed.
The building that was once St. Catherine’s Catholic High School, closed in 2013.
Three years later, Channel 4 producers decided to make use of the forgotten property as a set for its new drama.
The 2017 show dubbed Ackley Bridge starred UK TV icon, Sunetra Sarker and Tracy Beaker star, Amy-Leigh Hickman.
Sarker, who is best known for her role as Zoe Hanna in Casualty, played Hickman’s mother in the drama.
Hickman portrayed one of the main protagonists, Narseen Paracha.
The duo both received awards for their time on the show, which was loved by critics and fans during the first three seasons.
Due to an overhaul in cast members and running times, the fourth season did not hit the same heights, with the show being cancelled in 2022.
Now the once-revived building has been forgotten once again.
Located in Halifax, the school shut down 11 years ago, after being deemed surplus to educational uses, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Before becoming the iconic Ackley Bridge Academy school, the building also had a short stint on CBBC.
The 2014 drama, Hank Zipzer, was filmed at the site, which posed as the Westbrook Academy during the three-season-long show.
An urban explorer has now captured some eerie footage of what is left inside the halls of the old school.
In the footage, you can see the old Ackley Bridge badge and colour design across the property.
The explorer also spotted a CBBC sign that stated filming would be taking place in the area.
Fans of the show have been left stunned by the clip.
One person said: “Why do they let sets turn into this, what if they wanted to bring it back. They could have used it as a real school.”
Someone else added: “They should rebuild it and fix it up and still keep the name and students could actually attend there, it would be so cool.”
One person said: “I was an extra on season two of this show, it looked pretty much in the same condition.”
Rhianne said: “I remember when they let us visit when they were filming it because I went to the school behind it.”
Another person said: “If they didn’t go to that new format and got big names to take over from Amy and Poppy, Ackley could’ve survived as long as Waterloo Road did.”
