Buying a home on a budget in the capital can seem near-impossible but there’s a new property on the market for just £155,000 that could be quite the bargain.
But there is of course a catch.
Putting the bricks in bricks and mortar, this basement studio in Crouch End features bare walls, exposed lighting, and a “bathroom” – consisting of a single toilet.
Described as a “dungeon” by shocked users online, the studio could be converted into a self-contained flat, but this is “subject to obtaining necessary consents”.

Should you get the work approved though, then there’s plenty of time for you to turn things around though – with a whopping 125 years left on the leasehold.
Meaning you can completely transform the property into your dream abode, as long as you’re willing to put the work in.
“Opportunity to convert the basement into a self-contained flat, this property offers a unique chance for both homeowners and investors,” the listing reads.
Social media users have been left a tad perplexed by the home.
“My absolute dream is to be an owner of a dungeon with a single toilet for just £155,000,” said Lucia.
“Looks like a level on the video game Manhunt,” said Thomas, with Lucia replying “The audacity to say one bath as well…”
The basement home is situated one mile from Turnpike Lane Underground Station, and six miles from central London.
Other flats in the same area average around half a million pounds.
The closest train station is Hornsey and Crouch Hill – which offers services to the Sussex coast, getting you to Brighton in just over an hour and a half.
Nearby, you can also find a nursery school and junior school.
