Whether it’s a quiet moment in a rain-swept forest or a high-drama embrace on a jagged peak, 2026 has proven to be a banner year so far for engagement photography.
Junebug Weddings has revealed its top picks for the best engagement photographs for 2026 – and it seems couples are moving away from the “posed” and leaning into the “cinematic,” choosing locations that feel less like backdrops and more like main characters.
The top picks were selected in collaboration with a panel of photographer judges, including Just the Daisies, Through the Glass, and Victor Lax.

Among the most breathtaking engagement and pre-wedding photos of 2026 is a scene shot on Italy’s Lake Como, taken by Piotr Dynarski.
The photo features a timeless mahogany speedboat on the shimmering waters of the lake.
This shot captures a couple sharing a private kiss at the bow, with the legendary Villa del Balbianello rising like a dream in the background.
Also among the chosen shots is one by photographer Nicola Boling, which features a stunning black-and-white composition and sees a couple embrace the elements.
Walking down a lone wooden pier toward the brooding mountains of British Columbia, their clear umbrellas catch the light against the fog.
Another image, shot by photographer Mariah Arianna in Italy, features a couple perched on a needle-thin mountain ridge with the jagged, sun-drenched spires of Italy behind them.
The scale of the landscape is dizzying, while the reflection at the bottom adds a dream-like quality to the ‘top of the world’ moment.
Among the top 50 photographs is one from Bianco e Nero, who captured a couple dashing through the snow in a remote Norwegian fishing village.
The vibrant red and yellow cabins provide a pop of warmth against the icy, blue-toned landscape, perfectly capturing the thrill of a cold-weather adventure.
Also among the top picks of the year is Andrew Rae’s stunning scene, shot on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
Mist and moss add to the ruggedly romantic proposal in the Scottish Highlands, which sees one partner drop to a knee on the grassy ledge of The Quiraing.
The 50-strong collection, which features on creatorzine.com, was shared this week (25 March) by Junebug Weddings.
