A cheeky woodpecker was caught pecking a stunned family’s Ring doorbell.
Joanne and Paul Jones got a notification on their mobile phone.
The couple – who have a son Leo, nine – checked the footage and saw the brown bird with a red crown tapping away.

They have affectionately named it Woody after the infamous cartoon character Woody Woodpecker.
Joanne and Paul suspect that the bird wanted them to fill up their empty bird feeders.
Joanne, of Boxley, near Maidstone, Kent, said “We’ve seen him around lots of times on our bird feeders.
“They had run out so I think he was asking us to top them up.”
Joanne – who run a cleaning company with her husband – added: “We all thought it was very funny and a bit cheeky.”

The family, who have owned the Ring doorbell for three years, said they typically see rabbits and crows on their camera, but this is the funniest clip they’ve seen so far.
According to The Wildlife Trust, great spotted woodpeckers are the best drummers by a long way.
They are able to beat their beaks against hollow branches or tree trunks at a stunning 40 hits per second, as reported on What’s The Jam.

Its larger, stronger bill; the strong black line leading onto the chest’; and the white shoulder patch, amongst other features, allow it to be distinguished from the smaller lesser spotted woodpecker.
